Blessed times.. loving life :)

Hello again :) I am desperately trying to get back into doing this regularly again!
There’s not an awful lot to update on, things are still going fine here. I’m loving life, in fact! I’ve had a pretty busy time in school, as we had a ‘Journée Pédagogique’; which basically means some primary school kids came for the day, kids who might want to come to our college next year. Each dept had to take a group for 45mins and basically give them a taster of how we teach and what we do :) I was with one of the other English teachers.. we made them laugh/freaked them out by speaking English most of the time – it was hilarious. I also made a complete fool of myself teaching them ‘Old MacDonald had a farm’ with all the different animal sounds. Haha all the sounds are different to the French animal noises – they are so messed up, seriously. French ducks say, ‘coin coin’ (said in a French accent obv) what is that?! LOL well the children now know the English sounds :) To be honest though, I guarantee, the only be of the song any of them will remember is ‘E I E I O’ – they did that bit very well! All in good fun.. haha. I love teaching.
The weekend just past, I had another assistant come stay with me in good old Boulogne! She just about got here and got home again – the snow conditions were pretty extreme.. lol. She has her car over here so she very bravely drove the hour and a bit here and back! We just had a pretty chilled time of catching up and eating. Standard. I was supposed to be babysitting Saturday night but it was cancelled because of the weather! So we stayed in, cooked and watched a film instead. On the Sunday we trekked through the snow to church – I was pretty impressed by the amount of people who’d managed to make it, despite our 20cm of snow! Including the pastor and his wife who live half an hour away.. they managed to get a lift with their nurse next door neighbour who was going to work for 7.30 am in her 4 by 4 – dedication! What legends they are : )

Talking of church.. A few weeks after I got back from the Christmas hols, I got a text from Christine (from church) telling me there was singing practise at her house one Thurs night. I went, and turns out I’ve been chosen to sing for worship at church! I never in a million years thought I’d find myself doing something like that. I’ve done it for 2 weeks now, and I’m really loving it. I always forget how much I love singing.. and singing in French is tough, but so beautiful when you get it right! When I was at church the other week, it really hit me for the first time, how much I’m going to miss this place and my life here when I have to leave. I’m really beginning to feel at home, especially with my friends and Frenchy fam around me. I don’t have an awful lot of time left here :( But hey, life goes on and Germany will be a new adventure. Just trying to make the most of the rest of my time here.. I’m feeling so blessed at the minute :) God is good.
This weekend coming I’ve got the open day for my college, so I’ll be helping out in the English dept. We’re having a tearoom, serving tea and cakes :) I’m going to make some yummy things to let them sample – time to introduce more people to my 15s I think ;) My friend Sarah has also managed to get us tickets for the France – Ireland Six Nations match at Stade de France.. WHOOOOOP! Hopefully you guys know me well enough to appreciate how exciting this is for me. I love rugby, especially the Six Nations.. AHHHH :) got my Ireland shirt washed and at the ready.. let’s just pray Ireland don’t let me down! So I’ll be going straight from my school open morning to the station to get the train to Paris and meet Sarah. Haha busy times.. I will miss singing at church on Sunday morning though! Right I better go and get some lesson plans done before tomorrow.
Miss you all lots and thank you for reading :)
P.S. just as an aside.. my life was made yesterday when I found some Cathedral mature cheddar cheese hiding on the top shelf of the cheese fridge in Carrefour - actual win :) I made myself a cheese and pickle baguette for lunch with the pickle my mum brought over for me. I also managed to make flapjack tonight with Charlie P's mum's microwave flapjack recipe and golden syrup that one of the english teachers found at the back of her cupboard. It's the simple things...

  2. Highlights for me in reading this are:

    1. The cheese comment. U literally are hilarious.

    2. The thought of u doing animal noises and confusing children.

    3. That God has gifted u to sing to him :)
