Post Christmas banter

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written! Since I got back to France after the Christmas hols, I’ve been spending most of my free time writing, researching or thinking about my essay. But it’s finished now – YAY!  So now I’m officially work-free until I go to Germany :) I have a big pile of books that I want to read, which I’ve already got stuck into.
Anyway, Christmas was so lovely.. I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to be home! Most people I hadn’t seen since mid September.. which is a lot longer than I’d normally go without seeing them. Although, I was only home for just over 2 weeks – I could definitely have done with longer! I just did all the usual Christmas stuff; eating far too much, playing with my sisters toys, spending lots of lovely chilled time with the fam and hanging out with my girls. It was really hard flying back on 2nd Jan, leaving all my family and friends behind, most of who had at least another week at home before they had to go back to uni. Once I got back to France and settled down again, I was fine :) It was actually nice to get back and see my friends here, and get stuck into school once more.
My first weekend back was very busy catching up with people! I was at a birthday party for one of the English teachers on Saturday evening. It was a pretty civilised affair, just at her house.. I met her parents and a few friends, some who I’d met before. It was really lovely and a good test for my French! We ended up talking way late into the night though, so I got home at ridiculous o’clock :S lol but it was good to chat and I love hanging out with the teachers outside school; they are way more relaxed. Despite a very late night, I managed to drag myself out of bed and make it to church on Sunday morning, and on my way, got a phone call from a different English teacher asking if I’d like to come round for lunch! So I went there after church! Needless to say, I was pretty knackered when I got home, but I went straight out to an assistants gathering.. standard. The following weekend, I had a very flying visit back to York! It was lovely, as always; managed to see an impressive amount of people in a short space of time, including going to Jon and Clare’s engagement party, which is mainly what I went back for. It made me, again, even more excited about moving back there next year.. and I signed a contract for a house, YAY! It took me until Wednesday of the following week to recover from my trip to York – too many nights of not enough sleep and early mornings! I then spent a very lovely, chilled weekend in Arras with Sarah. It was filled with baking, eating, chatting, getting into our pjs by 7pm and watching films in bed at 10pm – bliss. We also spent the Saturday afternoon with the daughter of a friend of Sarah's landlady! She's hoping to study in Ireland for a semester, as she studies English at uni in Lille. We had lunch with her and her dad – ended up talking about Northern Irish politics in French.. haha joy! I think we managed to bluff our way through.. it’s something I don’t know much about, even in English. We then went into town with the daughter and had a browse around the shops. I think it’s safe to say, we were pretty knackered by the end of the day from all the French speaking and concentration! So, yes, some lovely weekends have been had since I’ve been back. Including the one just past, when I pretty much did nothing, and loved it! Haha I needed a weekend to recover from all my busyness.
I will update again soon :) sending lots of French love!
